I initially wanted to intern with a pet photographer outside of town, as we do not have any available in Durango. I was unable to successfully find a way to go out of town. I then decided to intern with a local marketing firm. After a phone call with Janae, we decided that I should contact Marketing Concepts Squared, based on the type of environment I desired. I wanted to intern with a business that was similar to the business I see myself running in the future. Something on the small side, relating to marketing and/or photography. MCS fit this very well. I emailed with Jessika Buell, of MCS, and was told that I could be an intern. Following our first meeting, I was able to officially confirm my internship with Janae.
After LINK, I hope to have decided whether or not marketing was a future career path for me. I hope that I am able to learn more about web-design, social media management, and the business aspect of it all. I am excited to supply Marketing Concepts Squared with my impeccable organizational, effort-full work skills, and I hope that I am a useful asset for their team. I plan to represent Animas High School well and make the lives of my mentor and her coworkers so easy, they never want me to leave!
My LINK Internship is now confirmed at Marketing Concepts Squared!
Today I met with Jessika Buell and Marissa Hunt of Marketing Concepts Squared to clarify some details about my possible LINK Internship with them. It was confirmed that I will be working mostly with Marissa on social media management, but have the opportunity to Jessika (for a business management perspective) and interested photographers. They proposed the project of calendar management for me during my internship, where I would be communicating with clients to create individualized calendars of important events for their business. It was also voiced to me that I will have the option to work at their location or work from a location of my choice, due to the fact that it is almost purely technological work. I am excited to work with them, but the only part I am somewhat nervous about is the fact that I would be conducting meetings with clients, both planned and spontaneously. I would like to seek more clarification on this, which I assume I will receive as the internship approaches and in the first few days of the internship.
I'm currently feeling good about my internship! I have been accepted to be an intern at the local business, Marketing Concepts Squared. I am eager to find out if being a Marketing Manager is a desirable career path for me. Right now, the only project idea I have is to apply learned marketing tactics towards marketing for my mother's business, and record/observe any effects. I am currently in the process of confirming my internship with Janae.
We are taking our first steps towards confirming our internships. Currently, I have internship interest areas (i.e. [Pet] Photography, marketing, etc), but I have yet to determine which businesses I would like to intern with.
My original idea was to go to Denver, CO to intern with a pet photographer, as we do not have any pet photographers in Durango. However, it occurred to me a few weeks back that 3 weeks is a long time to spend in Denver, and that it might be in my best interest to spend my internship closer to home. So now, I am back at step one - thinking of internship ideas.
I have a lot of backup options, including PranaDOGS, the La Plata County Humane Society, Allison Ragsdale Photography, and Heather Mace Photography, as I have all interned with these businesses in the past, but I am prioritizing originality. I would like to intern somewhere that I have not interned at, if possible.
Hopefully, I can figure this out soon.
